The REPSLog free trial gives you 14 days of everything, no card required and no payment due when you start. After that you choose between three plans: Free, Starter and Premium, and the Free plan never expires. Nothing you logged during the trial is lost when you land on it. The plans are the same on iPhone, Android and the web app, and one subscription covers all three, so real estate investors logging hours for REPS or the STR loophole pick a plan once and track anywhere.
What it does
REPSLog has three plans and one free trial.
Free costs nothing and has no time limit: up to 5 entries, 1 property, 1 custom category, 1 attachment per entry and up to 10 participants, with the timer, the hours dashboard, STR and LTR tracking, CSV export and import, and the same account on iPhone, Android and web.
Starter is $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year. It lifts the capacity limits: unlimited entries and participants, 3 properties, 4 custom categories and 1 attachment per entry.
Premium is $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year. Everything is unlimited (entries, properties, categories, attachments, participants), plus the automation and AI features: voice logging, AI autofill, calendar sync and booking calendars (Airbnb, Vrbo and any iCal feed, for a short-term rental host), reminders, in-app search, managed accounts for as many people as you need (a spouse, an assistant or your CPA, full or read-only), and the ChatGPT, Claude and developer API connections.
The free trial is 14 days of full access on either paid plan. The subscription screen is titled “Try 14 Days Free” with the note “No Payment Due Now” and a timeline: today you get full access, in 12 days you receive a reminder email, and in 14 days the paid subscription starts unless you cancelled. Each plan card reads “Billed yearly after free trial” or “Billed monthly after free trial”, and the button says “Start Your Free Trial”. The trial is for first-time subscribers; if you have subscribed before, the screen is titled “Reactivate Your Subscription” and there is no second trial.
A Monthly / Annual toggle switches the prices. Annual costs less than twelve monthly payments: Starter is $149.99 a year against $179.88, Premium $199.99 against $239.88.
In the iPhone and Android apps the purchase goes through the App Store or Google Play. On the web app you pay by card through a Stripe checkout page. The features are the same; the difference is who bills you and where you cancel.
How it works
Create your account on iPhone, Android or the web app. The first screen after setup is “Try 14 Days Free”.
Use the Monthly / Annual toggle, then tap the Starter or Premium card.
Tap “Start Your Free Trial”. In the apps, the App Store or Google Play sheet confirms the trial. On the web app the Stripe checkout page lists the 14-day trial before you enter a card and returns you to REPSLog when done.
Prefer to stay on Free? Tap the X in the top corner. The Free plan unlocks immediately, and a “14 Days on us” banner stays on your dashboard so you can start the trial later.
Twelve days in, you get the reminder email. To cancel, use your Apple or Google subscription settings if you subscribed in the app, or Settings then “Manage Subscription” on the web app. Cancelling keeps your access until day 14.
If you do nothing, the plan you picked starts on day 14 and renews monthly or yearly until you cancel.
Upgrade later from Settings. Starter to Premium, or monthly to annual, is a plan change, not a new trial.
Why it matters for your hours
REPS is a 750-hour test, and material participation is a 500-hour or 100-hour test. A serious year means hundreds of entries, several properties, and receipts attached as evidence. The Free plan’s 5 entries and 1 property are enough to learn the app, not to defend a year, which is why the trial gives you the unlimited version first: import last year’s CSV, connect a calendar, and watch the dashboard fill up before you pay.
Pick the plan that matches how you work: Starter if you type entries by hand and manage up to 3 properties, Premium if you want voice logging, AI autofill, reminders, or a login for your spouse or CPA. Either way, log as you go: a contemporaneous record is what your CPA will ask for if the IRS ever does.
For a short-term rental host using the STR loophole, the plan question is mostly a property-count question. The STR goal is 100 hours per property by default, with a per-property x / 100 breakdown and a combined total across listings, and a participant breakdown showing whether a cleaner, co-host or manager logged more hours than you at each one. Free covers one property, Starter three, Premium any number, and Premium adds the booking calendar sync that puts each Airbnb or Vrbo stay next to the turnover you log. Your CPA can say whether to group listings toward 500 hours instead; the trial lets you set up every listing first.
Good to know
Prices are in US dollars. The app stores can vary by region, so the amount in your store is the one that applies.
The trial is once per account. Resubscribing shows “Reactivate Your Subscription” with no trial.
Deleting the app does not cancel a trial or a subscription.
Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the trial or of the period you paid for.
“Manage Subscription” appears in Settings only with an active subscription on your own account.
Coupon codes: the web checkout has a promotion code field. In the apps, a “Redeem coupon code” link under the purchase button opens the same web checkout and brings you back. A coupon cannot be applied to a subscription billed by Apple or Google.
One subscription covers iPhone, Android and web with the same sign-in.
People you invite through managed accounts need no subscription of their own.
The Free plan never expires. When you hit a limit, a banner reads “You have reached the maximum … allowed for your plan” with a “Select Plan” button.
Every plan, Free included, can export the log to CSV.

If a template is enough, use it. The trial exists so you can see the difference for 14 days at no cost: entries that timestamp themselves, receipts attached and read, a dashboard that runs the tests, and a report your CPA can use as it is.
