AI Entry Autofill takes the sentence you typed or dictated in the Services Performed field and fills in the rest of the entry form: duration, property, category, who did the work and the date. It is for real estate investors logging REPS or STR loophole hours who would rather describe the work once than tap through five fields. The Autofill with AI button is on the entry form on iPhone, Android and the web app, as part of Premium.

What it does

Under the Services Performed? field on the Add a New Entry form sits a button labelled Autofill with AI. It stays disabled until the field holds at least 10 characters (“Description is too short, 10 characters minimum”). Tap it and REPSLog sends your description, with the names of your properties, categories and participants, to our AI provider, then writes the answer back into the form:

  • Services Performed is rewritten as a clean description. Names of people, businesses, platforms and stores, dollar amounts, mileage and locations are kept as you said them; the property and duration are moved out of the text into their own fields and the wording is made slightly more professional. Nothing is invented.

  • Hours and Minutes are set to the duration you stated. If you did not state one, the AI estimates how long that kind of task takes, and the field is yours to correct.

  • Property is matched to one of your own properties by address or nickname (“at my Wilshire property”). If you own exactly one property it is selected without being asked.

  • Category is suggested from your custom categories and the REPSLog defaults.

  • Who Performed the Activity? changes only when you explicitly say another participant did the work (“my spouse cleaned the unit”). Someone you called, met or emailed is not the performer. Otherwise it stays on your default.

  • Date is set from a relative phrase such as “yesterday”, within the form’s window of January 1, 2020 to today. A date outside that window is replaced by today rather than a wrong year.

Anything you set by hand before tapping the button is kept. A duration from the built-in timer (the Timed badge) is never overwritten. Once the form is filled, a note appears: “AI can make mistakes. Check important info.” Review the fields and tap Add Entry.

A switch next to the button, Apply after speech, runs Autofill the moment a voice recording is completed, so a dictated entry lands fully filled in. The choice is saved to your account.

The first time you tap into the description field, a sheet titled Make the best of Autofill with AI tells you what to mention: the property name (if you have more than one), the duration and the date, with an example (“Yesterday, painted kitchen at Wilshire property, 3 hours.”).

How it works

  1. Open Add a New Entry on the Overview or Entries tab.

  2. In Services Performed?, type or dictate what you did, including how long it took, which property, and when if it was not today.

  3. Tap Autofill with AI. A spinner shows on the button while the AI works.

  4. Check each field. Change anything that is wrong; your edit stays.

  5. Attach a receipt or photo if you have one, then tap Add Entry.

To skip step 3, switch on Apply after speech and dictate your entries.

Why it matters for your hours

A REPS log only helps if it is kept as the work happens. The 750-hour test and the 500-hour and 100-hour material participation tests add up hundreds of small activities, and every field filled in by hand is a reason to put it off until the weekend. Autofill turns “spoke to the plumber about the leak at Elm St, 40 minutes” into a complete, dated entry in one tap, so the log is built on the day, which is what contemporaneous means.

The AI does the typing; it does not decide what counts. Whether an activity qualifies, and how detailed your descriptions should be, is a question for your CPA.

For a short-term rental host working the STR loophole, Autofill keeps per-property logging alive on a changeover day. Say “turnover clean and restock at the Lakeview unit, two and a half hours” and the property, duration and category are matched for you, so the entry lands on that listing’s 100-hour counter. Say that a participant on your account did the work (“Maria cleaned the unit”) and she is set as the performer, so her hours appear under yours in the property’s breakdown: the comparison against cleaners, co-hosts and managers that the 100-hour test turns on. Which test each entry belongs to is your CPA’s call.

Good to know

  • Premium only. On Free and Starter the button opens the upgrade screen. The 14-day free trial includes it.

  • There is a daily cap of 120 autofills per account. Past it you see “You have reached the daily limit of this feature. Please try again tomorrow.” The cap resets each day.

  • Works on iPhone, Android and the web app, with the same button in the same place.

  • Autofill runs only when you tap the button or complete a recording with Apply after speech on. It is not controlled by the AI and Privacy settings switches; the tap is the consent. Your description and your property, category and participant names go to our AI provider for that one request. Providers work for us under contract and do not train on your data; the detail is in the Privacy Policy.

  • A property, category or participant the AI names is applied only if it matches one on your account. Hidden participants are never filled in.

  • Dates are clamped to the form’s window (January 1, 2020 to today). A dictated duration of 24 hours or more is flagged during recording and not applied.

  • Requires an internet connection. Read-only team members do not see the button.

  • An Airbnb or Vrbo host with several listings should name the listing in the sentence, so the entry lands on the right property’s STR counter.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI fill in my REPS time log for me?

Yes. Describe the work in one sentence, tap Autofill with AI, and REPSLog fills in the duration, property, category, participant and date. You review and save.

Does REPSLog AI autofill work with voice?

Yes. Dictate the entry with the mic, and either tap Autofill with AI afterwards or switch on Apply after speech so it runs as soon as you finish speaking.

What should I say for AI autofill to work best?

Mention the property name, how long it took, and the date if it was not today. For example: “Yesterday, painted kitchen at Wilshire property, 3 hours.”

Will AI autofill overwrite what I already filled in?

No. Fields you set yourself are kept, and a duration recorded by the timer is never replaced.

Is my entry text sent to an AI company?

Only when you tap the button. That request carries your description and your property, category and participant names to our AI provider, which does not train on it. Nothing is sent in the background.

How many times a day can I use Autofill with AI?

120 times per account per day. Past that you see “You have reached the daily limit of this feature.”

Can AI autofill put my Airbnb turnover hours on the right property?

Yes, if you name it. “Turnover at Lakeview, 2 hours” fills Property with your Lakeview listing and Hours with 2, and the saved entry counts toward that property’s STR counter. With one property it is selected for you.

Is AI autofill better than a generic time tracker for REPS?

A generic time tracker records a duration. AI autofill turns one sentence into a dated entry with the property, category and duration a REPS log needs, and it is built in, with no API key to bring.
