Team Access lets you invite another person into your REPSLog account so they can view, export or log hours on your behalf, without ever seeing your password. It is built for real estate investors who track hours for REPS or the STR loophole with a spouse, an assistant or a property manager. It works on iPhone, Android and the web app, and the invited person signs in with their own REPSLog account.
What it does
Team Access (the app calls it Manage Account Access) adds a permission layer on top of one REPSLog account. You stay the owner. Each person you invite gets one of two permission levels:
Read Only can view and export data, but cannot create, edit or delete entries, properties or categories.
Full Access can view, export, and also create, edit and delete entries, and manage properties, categories and participants.
Neither level can manage your subscription, delete your account, change your AI and privacy settings, or invite other people. Those actions belong to the owner.
The Manage Account Access screen has five groups. Active User Access lists everyone who has accepted, with a permission badge you can tap to change their level and a trash icon to revoke access. Pending Invitations shows invites that have not been answered yet, each with a cancel option. Declined Invitations keeps declines from the last 30 days with a resend icon. Received Invitations is where you accept or decline invites sent to you. My Accounts lists the accounts you have joined, with a leave icon.
There is no limit on how many people you can add. An invitation goes to an email address, and the person must hold a REPSLog account whose verified email matches it. A free REPSLog account is enough; while they are inside your account they work under your plan, not theirs.
Email notifications are sent when an invitation is created, when it is accepted, when it is declined, and when a person is upgraded from Read Only to Full Access. Revoking access takes effect immediately: the person is switched back to their own account and sees a notice. A banner reading “Viewing [owner]’s account” stays at the top while someone works in another person’s log.
Every entry a Full Access user logs lands in the owner’s entry log, dashboard and exports exactly like an entry the owner typed. Use the Participant field on each entry to record who actually did the work.
How it works
Open REPSLog, go to Settings and tap Manage Account Access.
Tap Invite Users. Enter the person’s email address and choose Read Only or Full Access under Permission Level, then tap Send Invitation. If you are not on Premium yet you see the upgrade screen at this point.
The person receives an email. On their phone they open Settings, tap Manage Account Access and tap Accept under Received Invitations. On the web app a banner appears at the top of the screen with Accept and Decline buttons.
After accepting, REPSLog asks “Would you like to switch to [owner]’s account now?” with Switch Now and Stay Here.
To move between accounts later, open Settings and tap the account name at the top. Pick the account you want; the “Viewing [owner]’s account” banner confirms where you are.
As the owner, tap a person’s permission badge under Active User Access to change their level (a confirmation sheet appears), or tap the trash icon and confirm Revoke to remove them.
To leave an account you were invited to, open Manage Account Access, find it under My Accounts, tap the leave icon and confirm Leave. You return to your own account and need a fresh invitation to come back.
Why it matters for your hours
The IRS expects a contemporaneous log, which in practice means hours recorded close to when the work happened. If your spouse handles turnover at the short-term rental and you handle the books, the log is only complete when both of you can write to it. Team Access lets each person log from their own phone, under their own sign-in, into one record. With the Participant field, the log then shows who did what, which matters because spouse hours are treated differently under the REPS 750-hour test and the 500-hour and 100-hour material participation tests; ask your CPA which applies to you.
Read Only access is useful at tax time. A CPA or bookkeeper can open your account, review the entries and download the CSV or PDF export themselves, without being able to change a single record.
For a short-term rental host using the STR loophole, Team Access is how the people who actually touch the property get their hours in. Invite the co-host who handles the cabin with Full Access; they log from their own phone, and each entry’s Participant field (Myself, Spouse, Cleaner, Property Manager, or a “Co-host” you add) records who did the work. On the STR view every property keeps its own hours / 100 row with those participants listed beneath, so the “more than anyone else” comparison between you, the cleaner and the co-host is visible per property. Whether a co-host’s hours change your position is a question for your CPA.
Good to know
Team Access is a Premium feature for the account owner. Invited people do not need a paid plan; a free REPSLog account works.
No limit on invited users. A spouse, a cleaner or co-host, a property manager, a CPA, an assistant and anyone else who touches the log can each have their own login on one Premium account. Logins are separate from participants; you can also log hours for people you never invite.
Airbnb or Vrbo hosts can invite a co-host the same way as a spouse; a free REPSLog account is enough for them.
The invited email must match a verified REPSLog account. If they do not have one yet, they create one first and then accept.
AI and privacy settings belong to the owner. An invited person sees the owner’s choices on the AI and Privacy screen as read only and cannot turn AI features on or off.
Read Only users do not see the Add tab. They can still run exports.
Declined invitations stay listed for 30 days so you can resend them.
The feature is the same on iPhone, Android and the web app. Invitations can be accepted from any of them.
Frequently asked questions
Can my spouse log hours in my REPSLog account?
Yes. Invite your spouse with Full Access and they can log entries from their own phone into your account. Use the Participant field on each entry to mark who did the work, because spouse hours count differently under the REPS 750-hour test and the material participation tests.
Does the person I invite need to pay for REPSLog?
No. They need a REPSLog account, but a free one is enough. While they are working inside your account they use your Premium features.
Can I give my CPA read-only access to my REPS log?
Yes. Invite them with Read Only. They can view everything and download the CSV or PDF export, but cannot add, change or delete entries.
How many people can I add to my REPSLog account?
As many as you need. There is no cap on active users or pending invitations; each person gets their own login and permission level under your one Premium plan.
Can an invited user delete my account or change my subscription?
No. Only the owner can manage the subscription, delete the account, change AI and privacy settings, or invite other people.
Can my co-host log their own hours for the STR loophole in my REPSLog account?
Yes. Invite them with Full Access and add a “Co-host” participant (or use the built-in Property Manager). Entries they log with that participant show under the property’s row on the STR view, listed beneath your hours rather than added to them.
Is Team Access a good alternative to sharing my REPSLog password?
Yes. Each person gets their own login with view-only or full access, their hours are attributed to them, and you can revoke access without changing your own password.
