REPSLog AI and Privacy Controls put every AI feature that reads your entries or files behind a switch you own, on one screen in Settings, next to the advertising opt-out and account deletion. They are for real estate investors logging REPS or STR loophole hours who want AI without losing control of their records, on iPhone, Android and the web app.
What it does
The AI and Privacy screen (Settings, AI and Privacy) opens with one sentence: each feature below sends part of your log to our AI providers, and you decide which ones run. Under it are two switches, or three if personalized suggestions are available to your account.
Basic AI features is the master switch. It covers Smart Search, which finds entries by meaning rather than exact words. It is on by default, and turning it off stops every background AI feature at once: search, attachment reading and personalized suggestions. A sheet titled “Turn off AI features?” spells that out first.
Smart Search Attachments controls whether the receipts, photos and documents you attach (for a short-term rental host, cleaner invoices and guest-stay records) are described and indexed, so a search for “roof repair” can find the invoice. It is off until you turn it on, because files can carry sensitive information. Its own screen, “Search inside your files”, explains that one provider writes a short description of each file and a second provider indexes it. Only tapping Enable grants it; Not now changes nothing. You can turn it off on its own without losing search.
AI Entries Suggestions appears when the Suggested for You carousel is available to you. It controls whether your recent entries are analysed to offer back the work you log most. Turning it off deletes the derived profile; search and your attachment choice are untouched.
The screen ends with “What turning it off does”: REPSLog stops sending anything new and stops using what it derived straight away; deleting the derived data takes up to 31 days; turning a switch back on within 30 days restores what that switch covers, and only that. It also admits the limit: a request already sent to a provider cannot be taken back.
Features you trigger yourself are not on this screen, because the tap is the action: voice dictation, Autofill with AI and Generate AI description.
Two more controls sit at the bottom of Settings. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information stops your hashed email being shared with advertising platforms; tap Opt me out and you see “Request received. We’ll process it within 15 business days.” Delete Account removes your log, files and connections for good, after a confirmation that says which records are kept on purpose.
How it works
Open Settings and tap AI and Privacy.
Read the line under each switch; it says what that feature reads.
To stop all background AI processing, turn off Basic AI features and confirm “Turn off”.
To stop only file reading, turn off Smart Search Attachments. Search keeps working on your entry text.
To turn a feature on, flip its switch. Attachments and suggestions show their own explanation first, and only the confirm button grants them.
If you reach for an AI feature while it is off, a sheet titled “AI features are off” offers Enable All AI Features or AI & Privacy Settings, so nothing fails silently.
For the advertising opt-out, scroll to the bottom of Settings, tap Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, then Opt me out.
To delete your account, tap Delete Account at the bottom of Settings and confirm. It takes effect straight away.
Why it matters for your hours
An hour log for REPS or material participation records where you were, what you did and often who you paid, and the attachments behind it are invoices, statements and photos of your properties. AI can make that log faster to fill and easier to search, but the decision about what gets read should be yours and reversible. One screen means you can turn attachment reading on for a year-end review, turn it off afterwards, and know what happened in between.
A delegate you invited sees the state of these switches but cannot change them; the choice belongs to the account owner. Ask your CPA which evidence they want attached, then decide separately whether that evidence is indexed.
For an Airbnb or Vrbo host using the STR loophole, the log carries more than hours. The test is 100 hours per short-term rental by default, and more than anyone else who worked on it, so your entries name cleaners, co-hosts and managers as participants and carry their invoices and the guest-stay evidence behind each turnover. Smart Search Attachments is off until you turn it on, so none of those files is described or indexed until you decide. Turn it on for a year-end review of one property’s evidence, search “cleaning invoice lake house”, then turn it off again. Whether that evidence supports the test is your CPA’s call.
Good to know
The switches work on every plan, including Free. The features themselves run on Premium, and the screen says so; your choice is recorded and takes effect if you upgrade.
Basic AI features is on by default (Smart Search). Smart Search Attachments and AI Entries Suggestions are off until you turn them on.
Turning off stops sending and stops using derived data immediately; deleting it takes up to 31 days. Turning back on within 30 days restores only what that switch covers.
Voice dictation, Autofill with AI and Generate AI description are per-tap and not gated by this screen. Turning off AI features does not disable the microphone.
The advertising opt-out link is hidden once you have opted out, and for Apple private relay addresses, which are never shared.
On iPhone, iOS asks once whether to allow tracking. Saying no changes nothing in the app.
Deleting your account removes your log and everything derived from it; billing and tax records, referral records and support history are kept on purpose. The Privacy Policy lists every provider and retention period.
Frequently asked questions
Does REPSLog train AI on my data?
No. The opt-in screen states that our AI providers work for us under contract, use your data only for what we ask, and never use it to train their models.
Can I turn off AI in REPSLog?
Yes. Settings, AI and Privacy, then turn off Basic AI features. That stops smart search, attachment reading and personalized suggestions at once. The other two switches can also be turned off on their own.
What happens to my data when I turn AI features off?
REPSLog stops sending anything new and stops using what it derived straight away. Deleting the derived data takes up to 31 days. Turn a switch back on within 30 days and what it covers is restored.
Are my receipts and documents sent to an AI?
Only if you turn on Smart Search Attachments, which is off by default and granted only by tapping Enable on its own screen. Generate AI description sends one file when you tap it.
Can I delete my REPSLog data?
Yes. Settings, Delete Account, confirm. Your entries, files, properties, categories, participants, settings and connections are removed and cannot be recovered. Billing and referral records are kept.
Are my cleaner invoices and guest-stay records read by AI in REPSLog?
Only if you turn on Smart Search Attachments, which is off by default. Until then, files attached to your short-term rental entries are stored but never described or indexed by an AI provider.
Is REPSLog a good alternative for someone who does not want AI touching their records?
Yes. Every AI feature is a switch you control; with them off, nothing about your log leaves your account for AI processing, and the rest of the app works exactly the same.
