Quick Actions are the menu that appears when you long-press the REPSLog icon on your iPhone or Android home screen. From it you can jump straight into a new entry, start or end the timer, or open Customer Service, without finding the app, opening it and tapping through to the right screen. They are for real estate investors logging REPS or STR loophole hours who want the shortest possible path from “I just did some work” to a saved entry. Quick Actions are a native feature of iPhone and Android and are not available on the web app.
What it does
Press and hold the REPSLog icon and a short menu opens next to it. What it contains depends on who is signed in and what the app is doing:
Add a New Entry. Opens the Add a New Entry form directly, the same screen as the + Add a New Entry button on the Overview. It respects the same plan limit as that button: on the Free plan, once you have 5 entries the shortcut opens the upgrade screen instead of the form.
Start Timer. Starts the built-in timer and opens the Timer screen, so you do not have to tap Start once you are in. Available on every plan.
End Timer. Replaces Start Timer while a timer is running or paused. It completes the timer and opens the entry form with the recorded minutes filled in. There is never a paywall on this item: the time already counted is yours.
Customer Service. Opens the in-app contact form (Settings > Contact Us) when you are signed in. If you are signed out, it opens the public contact form on the web instead.
Special offer. Shown only to signed-in accounts without an active subscription. It opens a REPSLog offer page in the browser.
Share Feedback. Shown only when you are signed out, alongside Customer Service.
Add a New Entry and the timer item are shown only when you are signed in and not a read-only team member, mirroring the Overview, which hides both buttons in read-only mode. The menu is rebuilt whenever your sign-in state, subscription or timer state changes, so the items you see are always the ones that will work. iPhone shows at most four items, and the list is capped at four so a new item can never push an existing one off.
Because the shortcut launches the app, the target screen appears after REPSLog has loaded. If the app was fully closed, a gated item (Add a New Entry or Start Timer) waits for your plan details to load before deciding between the screen and the upgrade prompt.
How it works
Find the REPSLog icon on your home screen.
Press and hold the icon until the quick action menu appears.
Tap Add a New Entry, Start Timer, End Timer or Customer Service.
REPSLog opens on that screen. For Add a New Entry, fill in the form and tap Add Entry. For Start Timer, the clock is already running; tap Complete when you are done. For End Timer, the entry form opens with the minutes filled in; describe the work and save.
On some Android launchers a long press opens the launcher’s own menu (move, uninstall). Use a slightly shorter press, or look for the small arrow that expands the app’s shortcuts.
Why it matters for your hours
A REPS log is judged on whether it was kept as the work happened. The 750-hour test and the 500-hour and 100-hour material participation tests are sums of small entries, and the ones that go missing are the short tasks logged “later”. Two taps from the home screen to a running timer, or to an open entry form, removes the friction that turns “later” into “never”.
It also pairs the timer with the moment: start the timer as you get out of the car at the property, and end it from the same menu when you leave. The minutes are measured, not estimated, which is the kind of record your CPA would rather defend.
Short-term rental hosts working the STR loophole live in this menu. The 100-hour test is met one property at a time, and host work is a stream of short jobs: a turnover between guest stays, a guest message about the lockbox, a cleaner to reschedule, a maintenance call. Long-press, Start Timer as you pull up to the listing, End Timer as you leave, and pick the property on the form; the minutes land on that listing’s x/100 counter. Log your cleaner’s or manager’s visits as participants through Add a New Entry, so the “more than anyone else” comparison sits in the same breakdown. Which test applies is your CPA’s call.
Good to know
iPhone and Android only. The web app has no home-screen icon to long-press, so there are no quick actions there.
Requires a recent app version (build 198 or later). Update from the App Store or Google Play if you do not see the menu.
Available on every plan. The Add a New Entry item follows your plan’s entry limit (5 on Free); Start Timer, End Timer and Customer Service are never paywalled.
Signed out, the menu shows Customer Service and Share Feedback only. Sign in to see Add a New Entry and the timer item.
Read-only team members do not get Add a New Entry or the timer item, because they cannot create entries.
The Special offer item appears only while the account has no active subscription and disappears once you subscribe.
Nothing about the entry or timer is processed outside the app; the shortcut only opens a screen. No AI is involved.
The Start Timer shortcut starts the clock the moment the app opens, so if you tapped it by mistake, tap Cancel on the Timer screen.
The shortcut never picks a property. An Airbnb or Vrbo host with several listings chooses the listing on the form, and the entry counts toward that property’s STR counter.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add a REPSLog entry from the home screen?
Yes. Long-press the REPSLog icon on iPhone or Android and tap Add a New Entry. The entry form opens directly.
Can I start the REPSLog timer without opening the app?
Long-press the icon and tap Start Timer. The app opens with the timer already running. While it runs, the same menu item becomes End Timer.
Why do I not see quick actions on the REPSLog icon?
Update the app to build 198 or later, and make sure you are signed in: Add a New Entry and Start Timer only appear for a signed-in account. On some Android launchers a shorter press or the expand arrow reveals them.
Do quick actions work on the web app?
No. Quick actions are a feature of the iPhone and Android home screens. On the web app, use the + Add a New Entry button.
What does the Customer Service quick action do?
Signed in, it opens the in-app contact form under Settings. Signed out, it opens the public contact form so you can still reach support.
Can I log STR loophole hours from my phone’s home screen?
Yes. Long-press the REPSLog icon and tap Add a New Entry or Start Timer. Assign the entry to your short-term rental property and it counts toward that property’s 100-hour counter on the STR view of the Overview.
Is there a faster way to log REPS hours than opening the app?
Quick Actions are it on iPhone and Android: long-press the icon and you are in a new entry or starting the timer. On the web app, the + Add a New Entry button in the header is the shortcut.
