The ChatGPT Integration connects your REPSLog account to ChatGPT so you can say “Log 2 hours of bookkeeping at my Maple St condo today” and the entry appears in your log. It is for real estate investors tracking hours for REPS or the STR loophole who already live in ChatGPT and want to log without opening the app. Anything you log in ChatGPT shows up in REPSLog on iPhone, Android and the web app, alongside the entries you add by hand.
What it does
Once connected, ChatGPT can act on your REPSLog account with a fixed set of abilities. It can create a time log, update a time log, delete a time log, list your time logs with filters, and get an hours summary, a breakdown, your goal progress, your dashboard figures and flexible stats. It can also list your properties, categories and participants, and read two account settings (your property type and whether international properties are on). It cannot create or rename properties, categories or participants; for those it tells you to use the app.
When you ask about your hours, REPSLog can render the answer as a visual card inside the chat: a dashboard card with your goal ring, totals and a breakdown by property; an hours summary card for a date range with an STR / LTR filter; a breakdown card by property, category or participant; and a goal progress card for the year.
REPSLog is listed in the ChatGPT app directory, so you can add it by name. There is also a manual path: add a connector with the address api.reps-log.com/api/mcp. Both paths reach the same account and the same abilities. You sign in with your REPSLog account through a secure sign-in page; ChatGPT never sees your password, and no separate account is created.
Every entry created through ChatGPT is saved with a source of ChatGPT, so REPSLog can tell it apart from entries typed in the app or created through the Claude connector. The same sign-in serves both assistants; if you have already connected Claude, ChatGPT uses the same account.
In the app, Settings has a Use REPSLog in ChatGPT item. On Premium it opens the ChatGPT listing directly; on other plans it opens the Help Center article that explains the integration.
How it works
Make sure you are on REPSLog Premium (check Settings in the app).
In ChatGPT, open the apps or connectors area (Settings, then Apps and Connectors, or the plus menu inside a chat). Search for REPSLog and choose Add or Connect. If you do not see the listing, add a connector manually with the address
api.reps-log.com/api/mcp.A REPSLog sign-in page opens. Sign in with the email and password (or sign-in method) you use in the app and approve the connection.
ChatGPT shows REPSLog as Connected.
Start a chat and type a sentence such as “Log 90 minutes of bookkeeping at the Maple St condo today.” ChatGPT looks up your real property and category names, creates the entry and confirms it. If a name is ambiguous it asks you to pick.
Ask “How many hours have I logged this month?” or “Summarize my STR hours by property for Q1” to get totals, with a card where one applies.
Open REPSLog on any device to see the new entries in your log. To disconnect, remove REPSLog from Apps and Connectors in ChatGPT.
Why it matters for your hours
The hardest part of REPS is not the 750 hours, it is writing them down the day they happen. If you already keep notes, draft emails or plan your week in ChatGPT, logging the hours in the same window removes the last excuse. “Log 45 minutes on the tenant call for Birch Lane this morning” is a full, dated, property-tagged entry the moment you press enter.
The read side matters just as much. Asking “How many material participation hours have I logged this year?” or “Compare my short-term and long-term rental hours” gives you the running total against the 750-hour test, the 500-hour test or the 100-hour test without building a report. Your CPA still decides which test applies; the integration just keeps the number in front of you.
For a short-term rental host using the STR loophole, the value is logging turnover work the moment it is done. Type “Log 2 hours of turnover at the lake house” and ChatGPT matches the lake house to your property, tags the entry STR because the property is, and saves it toward that property’s hours / 100 row. Ask “Show my STR hours by property this year” and the breakdown card shows the cabin and the condo as separate totals. One limit matters here: through ChatGPT the participant can only be you or your spouse, so the cleaner’s or co-host’s hours, which the 100-hour test compares against yours, still get logged in the app.
Good to know
Premium only. Free and Starter accounts cannot complete the connection, and Premium is checked on every request, so a lapsed subscription stops the connector until it renews.
Works on iPhone, Android and the web app: the entries live in your REPSLog account, so every platform shows them.
The data ChatGPT reads leaves REPSLog and goes to the assistant’s provider under that provider’s terms. Turning the connection on is your choice; disconnecting in ChatGPT revokes access immediately.
The assistant can change and delete entries, not only read them. Deleting is permanent, so be specific about which entry you mean.
Properties, categories and participants are read only through ChatGPT. Create or edit them in the app.
New entries need a property that already exists in your account, a description, and a duration between 1 minute and 24 hours. Date defaults to today if you do not give one. Participant can be self or spouse.
STR or LTR is taken from the property, so an entry at an Airbnb or Vrbo listing you marked Short Term Rental counts on the STR view automatically.
Requests are limited to 60 per minute per account.
Entries record that they came from ChatGPT, so you can see how they entered the log.
Deleting your REPSLog account removes the connection. It cannot recall data the provider already received.
Frequently asked questions
Does REPSLog work with ChatGPT?
Yes. REPSLog is in the ChatGPT app directory. Add it, sign in with your REPSLog account, and you can log and review REPS hours by chatting. It is a Premium feature.
Can ChatGPT log my REPS hours for me?
Yes. Describe the work, the property and the time in a sentence, and ChatGPT creates the entry in your REPSLog account. Give an explicit date for anything older than yesterday.
Does ChatGPT get my REPSLog password?
No. You sign in on a REPSLog page and REPSLog confirms it is you. ChatGPT only receives permission to act on your account, which you can revoke by removing the connector.
Do I need a separate account for ChatGPT and Claude?
No. One REPSLog sign-in serves both. Each assistant is connected separately, so disconnecting one does not affect the other.
Can ChatGPT add a new property to my account?
No. Properties, categories and participants are read only through the assistant. Add them in the app, then log against them from ChatGPT.
Why does ChatGPT say I am not Premium?
The connection requires an active Premium subscription. Upgrade in the app under Settings, fully close and reopen the app so the subscription refreshes, then try connecting again.
Can I log my cleaner’s hours for the STR loophole through ChatGPT?
No. Entries created through ChatGPT can only be performed by you or your spouse. Log the cleaner’s or co-host’s hours in the REPSLog app with them as the participant, and they appear under the property’s row on the STR view.
Is logging through ChatGPT a good alternative to opening the app?
For a quick entry, yes: tell ChatGPT what you did and it lands in your log with the property and category set. For attachments, participants other than you or your spouse, and the timer, open the app.
