The MCP Connector is the single remote server address, https://api.reps-log.com/api/mcp, that AI assistants use to work with your REPSLog account. It is built on the Model Context Protocol, the open standard ChatGPT and Claude both speak, so one connector serves both and any other MCP client that supports remote servers with sign-in. It is for real estate investors on Premium who track hours for REPS or the STR loophole and want their assistant to log and read those hours. Entries land in your REPSLog account and show on iPhone, Android and the web app.
What it does
The connector exposes 14 tools to the assistant, 3 that write and 11 that read. The write tools are create a time log, update a time log and delete a time log. The read tools are list time logs (filtered by date range, property, category or STR / LTR, with paging), list properties, list categories, list participants, get an hours summary, get a breakdown (by property, category or participant), get goal progress (for a short-term rental host, the STR goal and the hours logged at each property), get the dashboard figures, get stats (the flexible aggregation tool for any total), read your account settings (property type and whether international properties are enabled), and a “who am I” tool that returns the connected account and its plan.
Each tool carries its own description and input rules, so the assistant is shown exactly what the server will accept: a description of 1 to 2,000 characters, a duration of 1 to 1,440 minutes, an optional date, an optional participant of self or spouse, and a property that already exists in your account. STR or LTR is inherited from the property, not set by the assistant. The connector’s instructions tell the model to use the stats tool for any total or breakdown rather than adding up a list, so the number you get matches the app.
Sign-in is standard: the client discovers the sign-in server from a public discovery address, opens a REPSLog sign-in page, and you sign in with your REPSLog account. The client never receives your password. The connector maps that sign-in to your REPSLog user, confirms Premium, and runs the tool. Premium is checked on every request, and again inside every tool as a second guard.
Entries created through the connector record their source, ChatGPT or Claude, based on the client that called. That source is stored with the entry.

How it works
Confirm you are on REPSLog Premium in the app (Settings).
In your assistant, find the connectors or apps area. In ChatGPT, REPSLog is listed in the app directory; in Claude, choose Add custom connector. Either way the address is
https://api.reps-log.com/api/mcp.The assistant opens a REPSLog sign-in page. Sign in with the email and password (or sign-in method) you use in the app and approve access.
The assistant lists REPSLog as connected and its tools become available in chat.
Ask in plain language: “Log 90 minutes of bookkeeping at the Maple St condo today.” The assistant calls list properties and list categories to resolve the names, then create time log, and confirms.
Ask for numbers: “How many material participation hours have I logged this year?” The assistant calls the stats or hours summary tool and reports the figure.
Open REPSLog on any device to see the entries. To revoke, remove the connector in the assistant; the next request from that client is refused.
Why it matters for your hours
The 750-hour test, the 500-hour test and the 100-hour test all reward a log that was written as the year went by, not reconstructed in April. The connector puts an entry one sentence away in whichever assistant you already use, and it keeps the record in one place: your REPSLog account, the same one your dashboard, exports and CPA see. There is no second copy of your log inside the assistant.
Because the tools are narrow, the assistant cannot invent a property or change your categories, and every number it reports comes from the same aggregation the app uses. Which hours count toward which test is a judgement for your CPA; the connector keeps the raw log accurate and current.
For an Airbnb or Vrbo host using the STR loophole, the count is per property: 100 hours in each short-term rental by default, and more than anyone else who worked on it. The goal progress tool returns that STR goal and the hours logged against each property, and the breakdown and stats tools split STR hours by participant, so you can ask “Which of my short-term rentals is still under 100 hours?” or “How many STR hours did my cleaner log?” and get the dashboard’s own figures. Cleaners, co-hosts and managers are logged as participants, so the comparison is in your data. Whether you pass is your CPA’s call.
Good to know
Premium only. The connector refuses non-Premium accounts at sign-in and on every request after that.
One address serves ChatGPT, Claude and any MCP client that supports remote servers with sign-in. Each client is connected and revoked separately.
The data the assistant reads leaves REPSLog and goes to that assistant’s provider, under the provider’s terms. Turning it on is your choice.
Write access is real: the assistant can edit and delete entries. Deleting is permanent.
Properties, categories and participants are read only through the connector. Manage them in the app.
Requests are limited to 60 per minute per connected account. Beyond that the server answers with a retry-after signal and the assistant waits.
Every request is checked against your own account only. A connector can never see another user’s data.
Deleting your REPSLog account removes every assistant connection. It cannot recall data a provider already received.

What is the REPSLog MCP connector?

Does the MCP connector need an API key?
No. You sign in with your REPSLog account when the assistant asks. API keys are for the Public API, which is a separate way to reach the same data from your own code.
Can I use the connector with an MCP client other than ChatGPT or Claude?
The server speaks standard MCP over HTTP with standard sign-in discovery, so a client that supports remote servers with sign-in can connect to the same address. REPSLog documents and supports ChatGPT and Claude.
Can an AI assistant tell me my STR loophole hours per property?
Yes. Ask for goal progress and the assistant returns your STR goal (100 hours unless you set 500) with the hours logged against each short-term rental. Ask for a breakdown by participant, filtered to STR, to see how your hours compare with a cleaner’s or co-host’s.
Is the MCP connector a good alternative to the public API?
They serve different users. The connector is for people working inside an AI assistant; the API is for scripts and software. Both use the same account and the same permissions.
