The Hours Dashboard and Stats screen is the first thing REPSLog shows after sign-in: your hours against your goal, a breakdown by property and by category, and shortcuts to log the next entry. It is built for real estate investors who need to know, at any point in the year, whether they are on track for REPS or the STR loophole. The dashboard is on every plan and runs on iPhone, Android and the web app.

What it does

The top of the dashboard is the Overview card. In the default 750-hour mode it is titled “My Total REPS Hours” and shows your hours, a slash, the goal and a progress bar. In the 500-hour mode it becomes “Total Material Participation Hours” with Myself and Spouse rows. In the 100-hour LTR mode and on the STR view it lists one row per property, each with its own bar, and a “Total Hours Combined” header when there is more than one. A gear on the card opens the goal sheet.

Under the card, two stats cards break the same year down:

  • Total Hours by Property: one bar per long-term rental, sorted from most to fewest hours, with an “Unassigned” row for entries that have no property. Properties with zero hours are folded behind a “Show N more properties with 0 entries” link. This card is hidden on the STR view and in the 100-hour LTR mode, because the Overview already lists each property.

  • Total Hours by Category: one bar per activity category, sorted the same way, with “None” for uncategorised entries and “No Available Data” when the year is empty.

On iPhone and Android each card shows up to six rows with a “Show N more” link; the web app shows every row in a scrollable panel. Before your first entry both cards render sample data with an “EXAMPLE” badge and the note “Add entries to see your real data here.”

Two controls sit next to the logo. A calendar button appears once your entries span more than one year and opens the Overview Year picker; a dot on the button reminds you that you are looking at a past year. An LTR / STR toggle appears when you have both property types, and every card follows it.

The rest of the page is for action: a + Add a New Entry button, a Start Timer button on iPhone and Android (it reads “Timer Running” or “Timer Paused” with the elapsed time while it runs), a “Let’s get started” checklist until you have a property and an entry, Recent Calendar Events from a connected calendar, the Add suggested entries card, Common Activities and Recurring Activities, and Our Tax Experts. The web app adds a Recent Entries widget with your four most recent entries and a “View All” link, and lays the three stats cards out in one row.

Every number is a live total for the selected year, updated as entries are saved, edited or deleted on any device.

How it works

  1. Sign in on any platform. The dashboard is the Overview tab on iPhone and Android and the first page of the web app.

  2. Read the Overview card for your progress against your goal. Tap the gear to change the goal, and the chevron to open a participant breakdown where one exists.

  3. Scroll to Total Hours by Property and Total Hours by Category to see where the hours went. On mobile tap “Show N more” to expand a long list.

  4. If you have entries in more than one year, tap the calendar button and pick a year in the Overview Year sheet. All cards switch to that year.

  5. If you have both LTR and STR properties, use the toggle at the top to switch views. The app remembers your last choice.

  6. Tap + Add a New Entry to log the next activity; on iPhone and Android tap Start Timer to time it live. When you save, the dashboard updates in place.

Why it matters for your hours

The 750-hour REPS test, the 500 and 100-hour material participation tests and the STR loophole are all thresholds for a tax year. A log you only add up in March tells you too late that you were short in October. The dashboard keeps the running total in front of you, and the breakdowns show which properties carry the hours and which activities you log most. Those are the same numbers your CPA-ready export carries.

For a short-term rental host using the STR loophole, the STR view is built around the 100-hour test, applied per property. Each short-term rental gets its own hours / 100 row, so a cabin at 72 / 100 and a condo at 38 / 100 are never blended into one number. Tap the chevron on a row and your hours (combined with your spouse’s) sit next to every other participant you logged on that property, such as the cleaner or a co-host, which is the “more than anyone else” comparison the 100-hour test asks for. If you and your CPA group the rentals toward 500 hours instead, the gear switches every row to that goal.

Which threshold you need, and whether your activities count as material participation, are questions for your CPA. REPSLog keeps the record and the arithmetic.

Good to know

  • Available on every plan, including Free and the 14-day trial. No dashboard feature is gated by plan.

  • Works on iPhone, Android and the web app. The layout differs (single column on mobile, widgets in a row on web) but the numbers are the same.

  • Totals are per calendar year, based on the date each entry was performed. Backdated entries land in the year you set. Goal minus logged is what is left to log this year; the dashboard shows the two numbers side by side and leaves the pacing to you.

  • The Start Timer button is iPhone and Android only. The web app has + Add a New Entry in the header instead.

  • Read-only team members see the dashboard without the add-entry and timer controls.

  • Sample cards before your first entry are marked “EXAMPLE” and are not counted anywhere.

  • Short-term rental hosts get the STR view: each Airbnb or Vrbo listing you added as a Short Term Rental has its own row, and its hours never roll into the REPS total.

  • No AI is involved in the totals. The “Add suggested entries” card is a separate, opt-in feature with its own privacy setting.

Frequently asked questions

Does REPSLog have a dashboard for REPS hours?

Yes. The Overview shows your hours against the 750, 500 or 100-hour goal with a progress bar, plus totals by property and by category for the selected year.

Can I see my hours by property in REPSLog?

Yes. The “Total Hours by Property” card lists every long-term rental with a bar sorted by hours. On the STR view and in the 100-hour mode the Overview card itself lists each property.

Can I see last year’s REPS hours?

Yes. Once you have entries in more than one year, a calendar button appears next to the logo. Pick the year in the “Overview Year” sheet and every card switches to it.

Does the dashboard show hours by category?

Yes. “Total Hours by Category” shows one bar per activity category for the selected year, with “None” for entries that have no category.

Is the REPSLog dashboard free?

Yes. The dashboard and its stats cards are included on every plan, including Free and the 14-day trial.

Does the dashboard show hours per short-term rental for the STR loophole?

Yes. On the STR view the Overview card lists each short-term rental with its own hours / 100 row, plus a Total Hours Combined header when you have more than one. Tap the chevron on a row to see the hours by participant, including a cleaner or co-host you logged.

Is the dashboard a good alternative to a pivot table of my hours?

For the question that matters, where do I stand against the test this year, yes. It is live, per property and per category, and updates the moment an entry is saved on any device.
